Ephedra Supplements

Ephedra supplements used to be a very popular way to promote weight lose in the obese. Like most stimulants, ephedra supplements significantly boost metabolism and lower appetite, so they make an effective and tempting alternative to diet and exercise.

Ephedra supplements are definitely a risky and unhealthy way to lose weight. While not an especially dangerous drug in itself, mixed with caffeine or other stimulants ephedra can become a serious risk to your health. Every year there are some reported cases of people who unknowingly overdosed by taking some kind of ephedra supplement and then going on to have coffee, Sudafed, or some combination of other stimulants that put them over the top.

Even ephedra by itself boosts your chances of having heart attacks, especially in people who already have heart trouble or blood pressure issues. The irony is that most people that would want to take ephedra supplements to lose weight are the exact same people who are at the most risk by taking them.

Because of the risks associated with it, ephedra supplements have waned in popularity as diet pills. They’ve been replaced by a host of other

The 3 Day Diet

Filed Under (Health) by admin on 11-10-2009

There are many occasions that make women want to lose weight quickly. Maybe there is a wedding or a class reunion that is right around the corner. We want to look our best for such occasions, especially if we haven’t seen some of the party goers for a long time. One weight loss option is the 3 day diet. This plan promises quick weight loss in only three days.

Of course, quick weight loss is very appealing to many of us, but it is not recommended by most of our doctors. Many nutritionists argue that the 3 day diet only leads to temporary weight reduction. Most of us who follow the plan will only find the weight creeping back on in just a few weeks.

However, we must consider the purpose for the 3 day diet before abandoning the eating plan entirely. If the goal is to lose about ten pounds in three days for a specific occasion, then this plan is perfect for you. If you want permanent weight loss and an eating plan that you can follow for the rest of your life, then the 3 day diet is definitely not for you.

The plan is very restrictive and it requires a lot of will power. Anyone following the 3 day diet is urged to follow the plan for only three days. This is why the plan is best for anyone who wants to slim down quickly for a special occasion and not for someone looking for a long-term diet plan. People who follow the 3 day diet are instructed to go off of the diet for at least two days before starting the regimen over again.

Just about every woman has experienced the urge to drop one or two dress sizes before a special event. Maybe it is that little black dress that is hanging in the back of the closet that you haven’t been able to zip up for a few years. The 3 day diet can be a great way to get you back into that dress in just a few days.

Maybe you just need a kick start to your long term weight loss plan. Sometimes losing a lot of weight quickly can give a dieter the motivation required to get on a good diet and exercise plan. I have found that dropping significant weight in the beginning of a weight loss plan will insure that I am motivated to continue.

Even though the 3 day diet has many critics, remember to consider the purpose for the plan. This is not a long term diet and it definitely is not a way of life. However, if you are looking to drop a few pounds quickly or if you just need the motivation to get yourself into diet mode, consider the 3 day diet as a start.

About Body Hair Removal

Filed Under (Health) by admin on 11-10-2009

Body hair can be pretty embarrassing to have in excess. While its of course totally natural and normal to have a lot of body hair, it has definitely developed a kind of stigma associated with it in some countries, including the U.S. Having a lot of body hair can make going to the beach or a public pool an embarrassing and uncomfortable event, when it is supposed to be fun and relaxing. Body hair removal is getting to be more and more common as this sort of stigma grows and spreads.

Americans like to find things to be ashamed of, this much I’ve learned. We are constantly looking for ways to hide our age, lower our weight, cover up blemishes, restructure our faces, and we are now getting obsessed with body hair removal. It seems like every time I turn on the television I’m seeing some new product designed for body hair removal being advertised.

One of the older tried and tested methods of body hair removal is of course waxing. This is my personal favorite. There’s nothing like getting hot wax poured all over you, then having your hair ripped out one strip at a time. If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing this form of body hair removal, I highly recommend it. Somewhere between medieval torture and a bad day at the dentist, getting your body hair waxed is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Of course, then there is shaving. Shaving is probably the most common method of body hair removal, if not the most efficient. While its relatively painless, your hair will just grow right back again within days, and you are limited to shaving areas you can reach. Body hair removal for your legs, armpits, and of course face is easy to do by shaving, but its pretty hard to shave your own back unless you have some amazing flexibility.

The most effective form of body hair removal that I know is electrolysis. This is a medical procedure involving lasers that permanently, or nearly permanently, removes hair by killing the roots. While it is actually pretty painless compared to waxing, the problem with this kind of body hair removal is it is expensive, and therefore not really feasible for large portions of your body.

There are some body hair removal lotions and creams I’ve seen, but I’m a little wary of any chemical that can dissolve your hair. Generally, that’s not a good sign, and probably means it’s doing all kinds of harmful things to your skin.

Medical Health Insurance

Filed Under (Health) by admin on 11-10-2009

Unfortunately we all share a world filled with uncertainty. While we expect to live a hundred years, free of health problems and handicaps, this is not always the outcome. We have to take necessary precautions when it comes to our health and finances just to be on the safe side. Medical health insurance is basically a must for all of us. Because in this world of unpredictability, we need to be prepared.

When I turned eighteen, I received a medical insurance offer in the mail. This was no priority of mine. After all, I was still covered under my parents. By the time I reached age twenty five, I no longer could be covered under the plan my parents had. This did not worry me one bit. I was in my mid-twenties, why in the world would I need medical health insurance? Well, this is certainly the delusional route of an inexperienced youth. When it comes to our well-being, we can never be too cautious. How do you plan on paying that hospital bill if you break your leg in a playful game of football? This is something to seriously ponder. Most of us lack the motivation to purchase medical health insurance simply due to the fact that we’ve never needed it. That monthly payment would be for nothing. Just like throwing cash out the window. If that’s what you’re thinking, then doesn’t be so blind. If you ever get into a car accident, need a vaccination, or crack your head on a step, you’ll wish you had some kind of medical health insurance. This way you are covered if the bills are out of your league. Although there are deductibles, it is much easier to handle than today’s fat medical bills. Try spending a week in a hospital after trashing your car. It certainly isn’t done out of someone’s good will. You owe some major bucks that can set you back for many years to come. That is, unless you have medical health insurance. If you’re properly covered, then your insurance company will handle your expenses. The monthly payment is well worth the support if needed.

Medical health insurance is not just for accident-prone individuals, or those who suffer from health problems, it is for all of us who want that piece of mind. For those who need to know that they’re covered if they get injured or sick. We all have to face the realities of life. Let’s not do it on our own. It’s always nice to have that helping hand. Therefore, look into getting medical health insurance if you already haven’t, because if the time comes, you’ll thank God you did.
