Homeschooling Information Facts

Filed Under (Education) by admin on 11-10-2009

For many of us Christians, the state of the public schools in this country currently is just unforgivable. The drugs, the sex, the evolution taught in the classroom instead of the word of God. The only alternative to this type of godless and debased environment is to teach your children at home, but it should not be rushed into hastily. It is crucial that you obtain some homeschooling information to insure that you meet all of the requirements, state, federal, and local, to give your child the diploma that they need without exposing them to the darker side of so-called education.

There are many internet sites with homeschooling information which can be indispensable, no matter what perspective that you come from as a homeschooler. There are also support groups all over the country set up to network and share resources and information on homeschooling. These networks form an invaluable part of the homeschoolers environment, giving your child a higher tier of peer group than they would have in a conventional high school environment, and allowing them to socialize in a more closely supervised situation. They also allow you to share homeschooling information about teachers, both professional and otherwise, who are qualified to teach whatever topics the child needs. The network and support group forms the heart and soul of every homeschool community.

You must be especially mindful of the requirements for a high school diploma in the state where you live. There are state and federal websites and agencies which dispense homeschooling information allowing you to tailor a program that meets the requirements for learning. Typically, a homeschooled student will have to take an equivalency test to make sure that they can fit the requirements for the state that they live in. I know someone who did not bother to check out the homeschooling information before they began teaching their kid, and trust me: it was a hassle. The state actually tried to force them to send the student to public school of all things.

It is most of all important that you maximize the advantages of a homeschooled education. Homeschooling information can show you how to plan field trips, apprenticeships with people within the community, classes with volunteer professors, and a host of other opportunities to harness the flexibility afforded by homeschooling to give your child the best education which they could have. Despite not having the resources, facilities, or faculty of a public school, a homeschool is still the best.

Teaching Spelling

Filed Under (Education) by admin on 11-10-2009

Teaching spelling is an important and complex job. The English language can be complicated and there are many exceptions and variations to the set rules.

One who is teaching spelling is not only handling an assignment, he or she is influencing the vocabulary and thinking process of a future generation of politicians, doctors, lawyers, and marketing executives. Not only do educators instruct children and young adults on the rules of spelling, they are also involved in teaching spelling to immigrants who study English as a second language. These spelling skills are essential for anyone who wants to eventually excel in the work place.

Teachers who are teaching spelling must be able to introduce students to general rules of spelling and provide clear examples on why these conventions work and make sense. They must also encourage their student to reason on these spelling patterns and articulate the principles they have learned.

Teaching spelling not only requires the educator to know the patterns and be comfortable in teaching them to others, they must also understand the exceptions to the rule and provide examples for the student’s full comprehension.

While some educators are sticklers for propriety and emphasize the conventions of the language when they teach, others bring a level of interactive fun to the classroom. Some use theme days at school and decorate the classroom according to the theme, with the feature being the spelling lesson.

Others employ games into the learning, from the classics like Bingo and Tic Tac Toe to modern games like “Survivor” in which students sit in a circle and take turns shouting out individual letters to spell a complete word until they are each voted off the island.

Advanced classes require deeper study and so some who teach spelling use etymology in their lessons, explaining the origin of the word in its original language. Other techniques for those teaching spelling might include creative exercises, such as encouraging a student to write his or her own story.

Other teachers use more common games, such as bowling or sports, as a reward for their students’ good work. Some teachers prefer the traditional style of assigning homework, taking a personal interest in each student, and praising the effort put forward.

What’s most important is that educators that are teaching spelling get involved and are just as motivated to teach as the students are to learn. Each child is different and including all the children in the spelling program by making it fun and interesting for the entire class.

Teaching spelling can be a tough job but can also be rewarding, especially when a teacher sees the results of all his or her hard work: a classroom excited about learning, and progressive students earning high grades.

School Of Massage Facts

The school of massage does more than turn out wonderful therapeutic professionals; it saves lives. One of my oldest friends here in California had a hard lifeall the way into his adulthood. As a kid he was left with divorced parents who decided he be raised by the male counterpart, but ended up with a Dadwho, drug-addicted, taught him how to shoot dope at ten. For years he too was addicted, ended up on the streets, and was so desiccated and dehumanized by his plight that, he told me, one day he woke up in a dumpster, his back pockets touching, and his head in garbage. Like a twenty-first century Oliver Twist, my friend sought help. He found people who introduced him to the twelve step programs, found clean and safe shelter in a Salvation Army setup for indigents, and began recovery, soul-searching, and living a clean and sober life. For years, as he evolved, he still found no satisfaction in working the jobs he could get: he hated the tenuous income that telemarketing, cold-calling, afforded, and he felt humiliated to act in porn movies, despite the hefty paychecks.

He enrolled in a school of massage in San Francisco. As he had for years, he would call me to chat. Now, instead of focusing on my melodramas and such, my friend was full of giddy reports of his lessons and teachers at the school of massage. School of massage this, and school of massage that, he yammered for hours about this almighty school of massage. But he was staying clean, and he was happy, so who was I to judge that every profession became an obsessionespecially when this one would lead to what he may have been searching for thirty-nine years?

I attended my friend’s graduation at the school of massage. It was a serious awarding of certificates, followed by a casual pot luck dinner. The people were lovely. And my friend beamed. Then I moved an hour’s drive away, so my buddy who didn’t drive and I separated for a bit, only chatting once or twice by phone, as the calls were now toll calls neither of us could really afford. One weekend, however, I went to pick him up
