One of the most versatile beverages that we enjoy now and then (possibly every morning) is coffee. It comes in so many various textures and flavors that are suitable to virtually every palette. Coffee creamer initially was available in powder and liquid forms to lighten up the boldness of black coffee, making it smoother to drink while not using actual milk, which does not do much for coffee’s texture.

Available in a multitude of flavors and textures, cream has become a staple for the java drinking set. Until recent years plain coffee creamer was the only kind available. While that design is still available, flavored creamer offers numerous ways for you to wake up in the morning or enjoy dessert in the evening after dinner.

The powdered version has more unnatural ingredients but tends to last longer and is more affordable. It is made in larger sizes and can be purchased in bulk. This type of coffee creamer is easy to store and use. Another benefit seems to be that you can use it regularly. This is ideal for someone who cannot drink milk on a regular basis.

Liquid creamer is more of a dairy product, sold in refrigerated sections of the supermarket. Like milk it has an expiration date that identifies a more limited timeframe for use than powdered coffee creamer. The benefit of using liquid tends to be a smoother blend with the coffee and a smoother texture to your beverage. For those who are more conscious about what they eat or drink, liquid coffee creamer offers a more natural choice than a powdered version, not to mention they can be found in fat free varieties as well.

It has evolved over the years to include many different flavors that make coffee more interesting to drink. Those who have come to prefer their coffee with flavored creamer find it difficult to use plain coffee creamer and still enjoy their coffee. Fathers Support Groups

As the divorce rate goes up in the western world, many fathers feel that they need fathers support groups to help them. Many of these groups exist to give emotional support and practical advice. Fathers find themselves in situations where there is conflict over custody and visitation rights. They may be widowed or a lone parent or have sole custody. Many fathers feel isolated and a group of men in a similar situation can offer shared experiences. In divorce, custody is usually given to the mother and some fathers feel short changed with the arrangements for visiting the child.

In the UK, the charity Families Need Fathers is a respected organization that helps parents of either gender. Members are mostly fathers and the central concern of the group is to promote the children’s well being at times of family break up. They are working with the courts to persuade divorcing parents to put the interests of the child above their own. Custody battles are especially stressful for the children caught in the middle and the group hopes to encourage mediation rather than adversarial action.

One of the more controversial groups to emerge from the rights for father’s movement is Fathers 4 Justice. Another of the fathers support groups to start in Britain, it now has branches in the USA, Canada, Holland and Italy. The members feel very strongly that fathers are treated unfairly with regard to contact with children after divorce. There has been a series of publicity stunts in the UK to promote their cause. Protesters have dressed up as comic book superheroes on occasion, as when Batman and Robin scaled Buckingham Palace and Spider-Man stood on top of a crane. Members dressed as Santa Claus invaded the Royal Courts of Justice. The most publicity was gained when some men threw flour bombs at Tony Blair as he spoke in the House of Commons.

A number of organizations with their origins in the United States also strive for equal rights for fathers. These fathers support groups include the Million Dads March Network, Parents Without Rights and The American Coalition of Fathers and Children. All these groups believe in the importance of the father child bond. So often, fathers and children have minimal contact or no contact at all. The movement campaigns for shared parenting, whereby joint custody arrangements can become the norm instead of the exception. This would mean that both parents have equal responsibility for the child and equal access and the need for fathers support groups will decrease.

With summer on the way, my temperature has been rising just thinking about the heat waves. I know it is wasteful, and where I live we only get maybe a week or at most too of really intense heat all summer, but still, I think it might be time to get an air conditioning system. After years and years, sweating it out, or going to the movie theaters to stay at all cool, I feel like I really deserve an air conditioning system, and the fact that I am getting older also really contributes. The problem is that they can be so expensive.

After our window mounted air conditioning system conked out in the middle of the worst heatwave, we got an estimate on installing a new central air system. The prices that they show you online are already quite high, but what they do not tell you is the rest of the story. Not only do they have to install the air conditioning system, charging you for parts and labor, but they might have to completely overhaul your ventilation system. If, like me, you scarcely or never use your heater, chances are that it is not in that great a shape. Especially if you have a house built in one of those new developments that spring up over night with shoddy construction, you probably don’t even have properly sealed ducts. Before you get a new air conditioning system, or heating and cooling system, installed, you will probably have to pay for all of those new ducts to be professionally cleaned and sealed. And if the problem is bad enough, and there is enough dirt in the system, you may have to have them replaced and rehung altogether before you can get your air conditioning system.

I think that the best solution for me might just be to get one of the newer window-mounted air conditioning systems. They have become cheaper and cheaper, and they use less energy than ever before, as I have heard. It seems like a more economic solution all around, because I can just spend my time in that room when I want to be cool, without having to pay to run the air conditioning system to cool the whole house, which is a gigantic expense. I think that central air will have to wait at least another year at this point. I would rather spend my money on trips to the beach.

There are so many details to consider when building a home. Once we had picked out the style of home and hired a contractor I thought the major decision making was over, instead it was just beginning. We needed to pick out everything from the color of the siding and shingles on the outside to the color for the walls on the inside. Some details were easy for us to decide on. Others took many hours of looking at available products and going from store to store. One decision that took us the longest time was the lighting fixtures.

The reason that this was such a difficult decision for me is that the lighting fixtures are not something that you are going to easily change. Also I feel that lighting fixtures set the tone for each room. It is difficult to try to set the mood for a room that you have never been in. The contractor told us that we could pick out the lighting fixtures towards the end of the project, but that we could not wait too long in case we needed to special order them. Also the lighting fixtures needed to be in place when the electrical inspector did the walk through prior to our closing on the mortgage loan.

I wanted to have lights that were functional as well as unique. I wanted dimmer switches for the living room and dining room areas of the home. You need to make sure that the lighting fixtures are compatible with a dimmer switch in order to have this feature. The floor plan of our home includes an open area from the living room into the formal dining room. The living room is sunken by one step, so this is how the two rooms are divided from one another. I did not want the same lighting fixtures in both rooms, but I wanted them to coordinate. After several hours of looking at several stores we did find lights that we both liked. They are classic stained glass with subtle colors and geometric patterns. The light fixtures were different from each other but coordinated well. We also found a matching floor lamp as well as a table lamp for the living room. The stained glass gave off a soft light, but could also be turned up to provide lighting for needle work and reading.

Once we had the lighting fixtures for the living room and dining room picked out the rest of the lights seemed easy to find. We went with track lighting in the kitchen area because it is a long room. For the bedrooms we chose basic ceiling lights and also decorative lamps for the bedsides. In the bathrooms we also chose lighting fixtures that could be adjusted, similar to a dimmer. This is for putting on makeup in the light that you will be spending time in.

The efforts that went into building our home have been well worth it. We enjoy the home and have received many compliments on the warm atmosphere that the decorations create.
