Image has definitely become an issue of today. The media has utterly forced 99 percent of the public to conform to a certain standard or risk being ostracized. It’s no secret that physical beauty is only skin deep, and never lasts, but technology has certainly put a twist on things. When the craze conformed most of Hollywood, the general public was only sure to follow. This is the way Americans do things. I totally got a reality check when I traveled overseas. No one had white teeth. They were lucky if they had all of their teeth, or if they were even slightly straight. I couldn’t believe how much this bothered me. I truly thought that it was one of the most unattractive features on a human being. Had I too conformed to the whitening teeth phenomenon?

When my family and I decided to let a foreign exchange student from Russia stay with us, we soon learned the differences in our cultures. Toward the middle of her stay she actually wanted to buy a kit for whitening teeth. I could hardly believe it. She told me that she was amazed at how white Americans kept their teeth, and she felt inadequate amongst her peers. Wow, it’s amazing how beauty affects individuals and their levels of confidence. After she purchased a drugstore kit for whitening teeth, she had dazzling choppers in no time.

If you’re interested in polishing up your pearly whites, a good place to start your search is the Internet. Whitening teeth has never been simpler. There are a plethora of kits and products available online to brighten up anyone’s smile. Even after consulting my dentist, he encouraged me to buy a drugstore or online teeth whitening kit in order to save some bucks. Do you have a favorite clothing brand? When it comes to fashion, some individuals just can’t get enough of all the trendy and crazy new styles. Just when you think you’ve got a grip on what’s in and what’s out, something totally new will pop up and take you by surprise. However, there are some clothing lines and fashion do’s that never seem to go out of style. Take izod for example. How often do you see these cloths on various men and women, young and old? It’s definitely making its mark in the fashion world, and doesn’t appear to be changing much. In fact, much of the izod clothing I spotted back in the 80s, looks a lot like the izod apparel we see now days. One of the most exciting things about child psychology is working as a therapist for adolescents or children. This is one of the most crucial times in a persons life, and when children undergo bad experiences, or react in unhealthy ways to their surroundings, it can do damage which will affect them for life. As a child psychologist, you would have the opportunity to help children deal with all types of emotional and real world issues, from the psychological effects of divorce, to the psychological effects of sexual abuse. Although this job is not for everyone - there is nothing more terrible than hearing about the suffering of a child, except of course being that child - the opportunity to use child psychology to make a lasting difference in the life of a young person is something that some of us just can not pass up.

Of course, child psychology is used by more than just professionals. Parents, teachers, school counselors, and even law enforcement people can benefit from a knowledge of child psychology. For parents, this is especially true. Many parents with the best of intentions unwittingly screw up their children irrevocably through their inadequate grasp of child psychology. They might do it by inadvertently rewarding behavior that should be punished, or by punishing behavior that should be rewarded, by being too distant from their child, or by not giving him or her the space that a young person needs to grow. Many teachers, similarly, can do horrors if they do not really grasp the intricacies of child psychology. They may cause one kid to act out as the class clown, another to become a bully, and still a third to shut down and not respond to classes any more. This is why anyone who deals with children must understand child psychology!

Let me guess, there’s some special occasion coming up and you need to get your hands on the perfect gift. Well, maybe it doesn’t have to be the absolute perfect present, but you want them to love it.
