Drum Lesson Online

The internet has made it easier than ever to learn to drum. You can get a drum lesson online now, so that you can start today without ever even leaving your house. I have a friend who has been doing just that. He has subscribed to a site which, twice a week, gives him an interactive drum lesson online. The technology of it is just extraordinary. It can actually show him the beats as it is playing. There is even a feature that will listen to his playing and make comments, but unfortunately it requires expensive midi triggers to detect the notes.

Of course, all of this technology is really positively neato, but it still doesn’t beat a real face to face lesson in my opinion. Sure, there are advantages to taking a drum lesson online. You can take it any time you want, it is cheaper than a normal lesson in person, and finally, it allows you to not leave the house for your lesson. But when you get down to it, there are things that a real teacher can tell you that a drum lesson online simply can not. First of all, he can tell you when you are making mistakes, and what to do about it. Even if a drum lesson online can detect your mistakes, it won’t be able to detect more subtle things like amplitude and “feel”. To learn really rudimentary techniques, all you have to do is practice, and listen to an expert play, but to learn some advanced licks requires a bunch more. You need some one who really knows their way around a drum kit to do that, and that is a hard someone to find online.

Although I took my first drum lesson online, I soon discovered that I really would do much better with a real, live teacher. I soon found my teacher, and began studying how to play drums. The difference was amazing. The drum lesson online did a little for me, but the teacher I got showed me right away how to become a better drummer. It was a drumming lesson I won’t soon forget that started it. I never even realized that I needed to develop hand independence to advance past the basics until my teacher told me that, but once she gave me some tips, I was soon on my way to becoming a great drummer.

Healing Headaches

Healing Headaches with the power of your mind is not only possible it is natural. There is certainly nothing wrong with taking aspirin or other pain killers to help ease a headache. But there are other ideas and internal process you can take to ease the pain. Use these approaches and ides along side of any medication you may be using from a doctor.

First off, start thinking in terms of transforming Th headache, instead of getting rid of it. Getting rid of it just adds more mental noise and judgmentent. Shift your attention from judging the headache to transmuting it.

Next, explore what a headache really is. Do not explore your idea of it, instead explore it. Feel it. It is there right? Feel it. Get a sense of the sensation. Go into it. It has been said many times that what you resist persists, and what you embrace you can erase. Approach your headache in this fashion. Give in to it.

Giving into it is surrending to the fact that you have a headache. It does not mean you are being self-destructive. This does not mean you truly want to feel pain. It just means that you want to accept the pain that you are feeling now.

Acceptance opens the door for a more spacious feeling in your brain. Acceptance of a headache flues a sensation of openness, and that is what brings about the healing. Openness is peace of mind. Openness is a calmness that surrounds the headache. Feel a sense of openness amidst the headache. This is how you heal headaches.

Healing headaches is not difficult, because openness is your natural resting state of awareness. Openness is like the ocean; your headache is like a floating piece of seaweed. Rest in the ocean and the headache will become far less intense.

So, the trick to healing headaches is to let the seaweed (headache) float in a sea of awareness. Be the observer of your headache, instead of being trapped in it. Being trapped in a headache is the pain. Stepping outside of the headache is freedom from it.

The best time to practice this is when you do not have a headache. Pretend that you do have one, from time to time. This may sound strange but it works. Feel your head. Feel as if you have a headache and then try to get a sense of being larger than the headache.

Then, next time you have a real headache, you will have gained some skills. Healing headaches happens when you become bigger than the pain. NO bigger in the sense of being able to withstand the pain; just bigger in the sense of feeling bigger, feeling more expansive.

By all means, continue to take aspirin. But at a certain point you may find it not necessary.

Jewelry Travel Case Facts

A jewelry travel case is a must for anyone who travels regularly. It also comes in handy for people who only get away once or twice each year. Your jewels are valuable to you. They are not only expensive but in most cases they hold great sentimental value as well as monetary worth. The last thing you want to do is leave them lying on a table in a hotel somewhere.

I say this because I did just that a few years ago. This hard lesson left me devastated by my loss and sickened by my lack of organization. I can’t say where I lost my mother’s ring that she passed down to me but I do know that it was during spring break.

I took the valuable ring along on a short trip. I didn’t have a jewelry travel case but I really didn’t think that I had much use for such a thing. The occasional necklace and bracelet was all that I really wore aside from my mother’s ring. I really didn’t think that a jewelry travel case was necessary for so few items.

However, if you even have only one single jewel along for the trip, you really should invest in a jewelry travel case for your adventure. The traveling case can help you stay organized even during the most rushed occurrences on your outing. Keeping your valuables in your purse may seem like the perfect solution but I can guarantee that it is not.

I know this because that is precisely where I put my mother’s ring. I placed it in the change compartment of my purse sometime during the trip. To be honest, I put it there for a really stupid reason. The ring was for an engagement and I wanted to communicate loud and clear that I was available so the ring disappeared into my purse.

A couple of days later I decided to search for the ring and was sickened that it was gone. I bought a jewelry travel case for my next outing. I kept a pair of earrings in it and nothing else. My friend asked me why on earth I would keep one little pair of earrings in a jewelry travel case, “Because I want to take them home with me,” was my response.

I never lost those earrings or any other piece of jewelry on any vacation after that. Buying a jewelry travel case may have saved me a lot of money over the years.

Things You Should Know About Acid Reflux Disease

Filed Under (Info) by admin on 29-02-2008

Commonly called ‘heart burn’, acid reflux disease is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. It’s annoying and painful. But you want to know the truth, the reflux of the stomach’s liquid contents into the esophagus occurs in most normal individuals. However, when heartburn becomes acid reflux disease or Gastro esophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD, it is s real problem. That is because with GERD, the acid is stronger and stays in the esophagus longer causing more discomfort.

Most often, you will experience this during the daytime when you are upright, sitting straight, or standing. You body handles this reflux by the fluid flowing back down into your stomach. You swallow more during the daytime therefore draining the acid back to where it belongs. Your salivary glands produce saliva that also contains bicarbonate that acts to neutralize the acid your stomach has kicked up.

At night though, you may have a greater problem when acid reflux disease occurs that is because while sleeping, gravity does not work as well lying down, your constant swallowing stops, and the production of saliva is reduced.

Certain conditions make a person more prone to acid reflux disease, this GERD. For example, while you are pregnant, this can be a serious problem. Elevated hormone levels of pregnancy probably cause reflux by lowering the pressure in that part of your body known as the lower esophageal sphincter. Also, the growing baby puts more pressure on the abdomen. Both of these effects of pregnancy tend to increase the risk of GERD.

If your acid reflux disease is a minor condition, then you should only experience minor symptoms. These would include primarily heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea. However, if the condition is complicated, then watch out for the following symptoms.

The liquid that comes back into the esophagus damages the lining of the esophagus. The body tries to protect itself from the acid reflux disease by ‘inflaming’ the esophagus. Trying to speed the healing process through the inflammation, the wall of the esophagus may form an ulcer. The ulcer is a break in the lining of the esophagus wall. Then what happens is that there may be bleeding. If the bleeding is very severe, patients might need a blood transfusion or even surgical treatment.

If your heartburn is severe or acute, happening very frequently, you need to see a doctor.

What can you do for yourself to help the condition? Try sleeping a pillow a night that raises your chest up slightly so that gravity can bring the acid back down more easily. Since this condition usually occurs on a full stomach, eat earlier and eat less to keep the stomach from being too full. Ease off on the chocolate, peppermint, alcohol, and caffeinated drinks. Reduce fatty foods and of course, cut down or quit smoking. Other foods may aggravate the conditions. Avoid spicy or acid-containing foods, like citrus juices, carbonated beverages, and tomato juice.
