Increase Blood Circulation

Filed Under (Health) by admin on 31-03-2007

Having poor blood circulation may not sound like a big deal, but can lead to serious health problems if not treated seriously. A lot of recent studies are showing that a poor blood circulation significantly increases your odds of developing heart disease or having strokes. Its not much of a surprise of you think about it. However, while a lot of focus has gone into ways of lowering cholesterol and saturated fats, not much focus has gone toward ways to increase blood circulation.

Some people just naturally have poor blood circulation due to genetics. Having said this, anyone can take steps to increase blood circulation. The easiest way to increase blood circulation is to be more active. Even light exercise for around 30 minutes a day will dramatically increase blood circulation. Light exercise can mean just a pleasant stroll around the block a couple times, or walking to a nearby store. Heavier exercises, like running, swimming, or weight lifting, will of course increase blood circulation a lot as well.

It’s also a good idea to watch your diet carefully if you are trying to increase blood circulation. One other common cause for poor blood circulation is obstructed or partially obstructed arteries, which can occur not only due to lack of exercise but a poor diet as well. Generally, keeping cholesterol and saturated fat levels in your diet to a minimum will help. A good diet by itself won’t increase blood circulation, but a bad diet may hinder your other efforts.

One scary thing about poor blood circulation is that it often has no real identifiable symptoms. While many people with poor blood circulation are prone to losing feeling or going numb in their extremeties often, this isn’t noticeable in everyone. A particular condition associated with bad circulation is called PAD, or peripheral arterial disease. PAD is often connected to people who spend a large portion of the day immobile, especially elderly people. Taking steps to increase blood circulation is a good idea if you’ve been diagnose with PAD, or if you spend a lot of time immobile during the day.

It’s harder to increase blood circulation if you are immobile due to sickness or injury. However there are still steps you can take. There are special exercise devices designed for use by people with limited mobility you can look into, and there are also new medications designed to increase blood circulation that may help.

Australia Christmas Decoration

What you choose to use as a decorating theme for the holidays should be something you like, even if some might see it as untraditional. There are many ways to go, but if you have a wish, dream, or something you love, there is no harm in incorporating that into what you like to do for decorations for the holidays. There are many who love to travel, and some who haven’t had a chance yet to take their dream vacation. I want to go to Australia very badly to visit friends I love but have yet to meet in person. I was supposed to go this year, but could not. In that spirit, I might find some Australia Christmas decoration to my d

Gifts For Dad

Gifts for dad are the easiest kinds of gifts to get, in my opinion. Maybe just because I have the worlds easiest dad to shop for. There isn’t anything electronic on the planet that he isn’t at least partially interested in. My dad’s home office is like a techno-jungle; its filled with so many little gadgets and devices it could easily double as a museum display for 21st-20th century technological marvels. For me, finding gifts for dad is therefore as easy walking into a Circuit City or even a Radio Shack and picking out anything that beeps, has one or more moving parts or a flashing light.

I have a feeling I’m not the only one out there with a technophilic dad, but I suppose there are plenty of dads that couldn’t care less about gadgets. If you have such a father, finding some good gifts for dad may be slightly more complicated. Probably not much, however. The one thing all dads have in common is some kind of hobby or obsession. If its not gadgets, its something else. Sports, history, movies, woodworking, cars, literature, gardening, there’s something that your dad does whenever he gets the chance, and you probably know what it is.

Dad’s (all men really) like gifts that they’ll use; functional gifts are good gifts for dads. So whatever your dad’s hobby is, think of some things he could use for it. If he’s into woodworking, for example, get him some nice new tools to replace those old junky one’s he’s been using for years. If his hobby is an expensive one, say restoring old cars, don’t despair; even the most expensive hobbies can lead to cheaper gift ideas. Maybe a subscription to a car magazine, or some new tools he can use with cars?

You say your dad doesn’t have hobbies, hmm? Well what does he do then? If he doesn’t have any hobbies at all, it’s probably because he’s working all the time. Well, guess what, his hobby is his work! What can you get him that he’ll use at work? Does he wear ties at work? Does he need a nice pen? Or maybe he needs a break; how about a gift certificate to a spa/massage therapy center? Those places aren’t just for women, and make for great gifts for dads that are overworked.

You can’t really go wrong with more traditional gifts, like clothes for example, either. Just make sure it’s something your dad not only would want but also would use often. A woman may be very excited about getting an outfit she’ll only wear once a year, but a man will be considerably unenthused by it more often than not. Usefulness is the key when looking for gifts for dads.

Old Timer Pocket Knife

Are you a knife person? When I say this, I simply mean do you carry a knife where ever you go? Now, don’t get me wrong; this isn’t a bad thing. I personally feel naked without my knife clipped in my pocket. Maybe you too carry a modern-day tactical folder. Or maybe you’re one of those old timer pocket knife kind of folks. My grandpa surely was. he had his old timer pocket knife in his jeans 24/7. That fine little blade sure can come in handy at times. You never know when you might need to cut, whittle, or peel something out of the blue. You’ve probably already figured out that we’re from the more rural part of the world. The part where men are still men, and they even still hang onto their old timer pocket knife. It’s simply a way of life.

I will be the first to admit that I’m a knife fanatic. I blame my father for this since he clearly was the one who got me started in the cutlery collecting. I laugh when I take a glance around at my three other brothers. All of them also appreciate a good knife. Of course now days that concept has changed drastically. While back in the day an old timer pocket knife was pretty sweet, in more modern times things have really updated. That classic 440C steel has been shown up over and over in recent years. First we moved up to ATS-34 and 154-CM, then came VG-10 and D2, and now we finally have a steel that was created especially for knives. And I’m talking about hardcore “do it all” kinds of knives that never let you down. The contemporary blade is crafted from S30-V. Now that’s some serious steel. If they only could have made the old timer pocket knife with this stuff. Things may have been a tad different in my grandfather’s day.

Are you searching for an old timer pocket knife? Well, you shouldn’t have to look far. These are still available in cyberspace. Heck, virtually anything you’re looking for is. However, before you resort back to that classic old timer pocket knife, you may want to check out what the contemporary knife market has to offer. Some of the finer tactical folding knives today are almost impossible to vie with. You want a great folder with a beefy blade, and tank-like structure. One that will hold and edge after it has been put through the ringer. Hop online and have a look-see.
