My daughter just had her first birthday and of course, I went crazy buying a lot of baby party supplies at my local party store. I quickly spent way more than I had intended but everything was so cute that I couldn’t resist. My husband returned the paper tablecloth, too. I found a sturdy, plastic one at our local discount dollar store at a fraction of the price. He also returned other baby party supplies to the store, like the paper centerpiece that would have lasted about ten seconds on the table. The paper plates were returned as well. I spent nearly twenty dollars on cute little plates, but I had to, they matched the road signs that we didn’t need and they matched the paper table cloth that was way overpriced.

After returning the unnecessary baby party supplies, my husband returned home with seventy dollars. I went to our local discount dollar store and found comparable items for a fraction of the cost. We used the money we saved on the baby party supplies on an actual gift for the baby, which is really more important than matching the centerpiece to the tablecloth. I did keep the thank-you cards for my guests because they are important and hopefully, they will be kept to remember the special day.

The paper plates from the dollar store did not match the tablecloth. The centerpiece was missing, but it wasn’t missed by anyone.
