Flowers And Plants

Flowers and Plants

A couple of years ago I was out of work. I was at the point where I was willing to take on pretty much any sort of job, provided it paid well and had regular hours. One job posting that caught my eye was for the city. They were seeking to hire Gardeners on a full-time basis. I looked over the ad, mostly out of curiosity and I was surprised to find that I had most of the qualifications they were looking for, without even stretching it too much. So, I decided to apply.

As a kid, I spent countless hours helping my parents in their huge gardens. I would help with weeding mostly, but also had the opportunity to try my hand planting flowers and plants. I learned a little bit here and a little bit there about annuals and perennials, types of soils and proper irrigation. It’s really quite amazing what you can pick up as a kid, without even trying!

I sat down to fill out the job application. I was required to detail my experience and to express a willingness to undergo some specialized training upon employment. I was at the point that I was willing to agree to pretty much anything that would pay the bills! I submitted my application a couple of days before the deadline and continued on my way.

I figured I had nothing to lose by applying. I felt relatively confident in my expertise and experience, even if it was only working for my parents in our garden at home as a kid. I did know quite a bit about flowers and plants, when I really thought about it, so I decided to just wait and see what would come of sending in my application.

A few weeks later I was pleasantly surprised by a phone call. The City called me to arrange a time for me to write a knowledge test and for a personal interview. Somehow, I wasn’t stressed out at all. I didn’t even bother to brush up on my knowledge until the morning of the test and interview. I just popped online and google searched for information on flowers and plants. The first site I visited offered a wealth of information, written in layman’s terms. I have a relatively good memory and made a few notes on types of perennials, soil types, shade plants and other miscellaneous information that I felt might be helpful when writing the test. Then I was on my way.

I arrived a few minutes early and was ushered in to a room with six other people around a large desk. We were given a three page examination and an hour and a half to complete it. I was delighted to find that the very information I had studied, was the type of information needed for this test. Although, I took the time to double check all my answers resulting in my being the last person to finish, I still felt pretty confident in the outcome of the exam.

Next, I was asked to meet with three individuals - one was a Foreman, one an Administrator and the third a Manager. I was quite at ease during the interview. I had little difficulty answering their questions and was completely forthright when explaining that the bulk of my experience was on my parents farm. The interview went very well, and I went home with a feeling of confidence.

That very evening I was contacted with a job offer and I started my Gardener position the very next week!

In truth, I have a slightly above average knowledge of flowers and plants. However, having the presence of mind to think beyond my traditional work experience really panned out in this situation.

I had an absolute blast that summer and will always remember my Gardener stint with fondness.

Signs Of Depression

For about thirty years, I showed, felt, questioned, and tried to investigate what I didn’t realize were what 13 to 14 million people experience in any given year: the signs of depression that have now been studied, therapeutically dealt with, and successfully treated. Before I knew that ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) was my personal albatross weighing me down perpetually and daily, along with the symptoms of depression that are very typically present in ADDers, I had a hell of a time staying on the planet. I had to drag a heavy (emotionally and physically) carcass out of bed, where I preferred to or was compelled to stay. I found it futile to make that bed, as I would just be climbing into it again. I found most activities

Adeva Skin Care

When it comes to carrying for your skin, both on your face and on your body, you want something you know will really work well, and that is good for your skin. There are hundreds of different things to try, and trying each one of them can be daunting at best. Some names you know you can trust, and others are new, and you aren’t sure what to think. Advertisements say a lot, but trying something out is what really tells you what something can do. In my family, I seem to have collected a lot of Adeva skin care products, though it is not something I set out to do.

It all started with my husband’s dry skin. He tends to have problems where he shaves, and I think this is a pretty common problem for men. He tried many things, including lotions not necessarily made for the face. In the end, he came up with two things that actually worked on his face. One was Olay, and the other was one of the Adeva skin care products on the market. They were the only two that stopped the flakes, and that also did not cause breakout or irritation.

You could take that Adeva skin care recommendation to heart, but the trouble with that is that everyone has different skin. It might be the answer for you, but you won’t know until you try. What is great about Adeva skin care though, is that it seems to work well for my face as well. I was in denial about my skin aging, but once I faced what was happening, and started using these moisturizers for myself, I found that my skin was better within a week. The fact that both brands worked well for us was in indication that they are indeed overall great products.

If you want to try out new products for face or body, you should try samples if you can find them. There are times you can get samples of Adeva skin care products and many other brands by looking on their website or looking for special offers elsewhere. While a sample only lasts for a few days, you might get some idea if you like it or not. Just remember the real test for your skin versus Adeva skin care is to try it out for a few weeks. Once you have given it a fair trial, you may find you never need anything else.

Duct Tape Facts

Just about every guy who likes to work with his hands loves duct tape. This icon of the workshop has many inventive uses that make me wonder if the individuals who come up with the ideas have too much time on their hands. The many uses for duct tape include fashion accessories and my husband decided to test some of these fashion ideas out over the holidays and for some special birthdays.

His first undertaking was to make wallets out of duct tape. He chose black for the color and followed the step-by-step directions he found online to each detail. The results were amazing. My husband gave the wallets as Christmas gag gifts for friends and relatives who have a good sense of humor.

No one knew that the wallets were supposed to be a joke. The real presents were gift cards inside the wallets. The people who received the unique handmade gifts had no idea that they were made of duct tape and they had trouble guessing the material even when given clues. Many guessed that they were made of leather and one guessed that his was made out of snake skins. They were really surprised when we told them that they were made of tape.

His next few fashion creations were not such a hit. He made duct tape neckties that looked like they were made of paten leather. They were awkward looking and nearly impossible to wear. My husband blamed the necktie fiasco on a poor design pattern but I attribute it to a poor idea in the first place. Not everything can be made out of duct tape, I argued.

Just then, he introduced me to a duct tape website in which a couple attending a prom was pictured. They were dressed completely in duct tape from head to toe. My husband was very pleased with this image because he had a chance to tease me about my statement. He still considers duct tape to be the most useful material on the planet and there is no arguing against the stuff.

I try not to discourage him with his inventive undertakings. They seem to make him happy and they certainly keep him busy. I also don’t want him to get any ideas about trying to defend his favorite material. I would hate to have a tennis bracelet made out of duct tape. I wouldn’t put it past him.

Sample Business Plans

When it came to writing business plans, I thought I would have no problem. You see, I had really thought out basically every aspect of business. I knew the product I wanted to make, how to make it, how to market and advertise it, how many people I had to employ, and even how much it would cost. Nevertheless, something about putting all of these factors together was really difficult for me. I have always been an idea man, but have never found a very good person to collaborate with. For me, the part that everyone takes for granted - writing down and organizing the details - is the hardest part. Add to this the fact that I have no business experience and you have a recipe for disaster. That is why I needed to consult sample business plans.

It may seem strange to you, but having to look at a business plan example was a little bit humiliating for me. I have always been a pretty independent person, and looking at someone else’s business plan template seemed to compromise the independence. I wanted to be able to do it all by myself, and having to go buy sample business plans from some company that specializes in marketing to business novices felt like admitting failure long before it was time. Yet although I am stubborn, I am also practical. I knew that the sample business plans would save me a lot of money in the long run. By not allowing my inexperience to mess with my business planning, I would be able to get things right in the first place. Looking at a simple business plan or two would show me how it was done, and make sure I didn’t leave out any details.

Once I got past the feeling that I could have figured it out by myself, I actually found the sample business plans to be quite helpful. The company that I bought them from used plans from actual businesses, showing me in detail everything that needed to be written down. They even offered to help me write my own, but I did not feel like I had to avail myself of the service. The sample business plans were perfectly adequate. I knew what I needed to know, and I was ready to get going. My business now has been going for about six months, and everything seems to be coming along quite nicely, thanks to my careful planning.
